Troy

troy champ: lead pastor

Troy serves as the Lead Pastor of Capital Church. As one of the
founding team members of Capital, he served the church as Executive Pastor for 7 years before become Lead Pastor in Spring 2004. Troy, his wife Suzanne, and their daughters Emma, Alyssa and Morgan live in Sugarhouse.

When he's not writing messages that involve references to his favorite foods, this high-school Homecoming King can be found washing down a handful of chocolate chip cookies with a glass of sweet tea. And if you look close enough, every once in a while Troy can be spotted playing drums behind the "glass cage" on stage at Capital, a hobby he's enjoyed for over 20 years.

Suzanne

suzanne champ: associate pastor

Suzanne juggles several responsibilities in her Associate Pastor role at Capital. Each week she coordinates and leads worship, serves as the Director of the Children's Ministry and assists Troy in the implementation of the church vision. She is also mom to 5 year-old Emma and uses her fourth and fifth hands to simultaneously feed twin baby girls Alyssa and Morgan.

Suzanne enjoys playing at the park with her children, searching for sales, reading good books, and avoiding milk and seafood at all costs.

Tara

tara ross: director of ministries

As Director of Ministries, Tara is involved in a variety of programs including volunteer management of all ministries, service production and administration, strategic efforts and special projects.

She was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts where she earned her Bachelor of Science from Boston University and her Masters in Business Administration from Bentley College. After working for several years in non-profit Association Management, she left the East Coast (and the Red Sox) in 2002 and headed west. Once in Salt Lake City, she served as Executive Director at the Corporate Office of Executive Women International until May of 2006.

Tara does not have a Boston accent. She does however read the last chapter of a book first and loves anything that is sparkly. She and her husband Greg have a one-year old son, Benton. His nursery is not sparkly and Greg is praying that it stays that way.

Paul

paul laforge: youth & mens' ministries

As a part-time staff-member, Paul can mostly be found strategizing with Troy, playing videogames with members of The Edge (Capital Youth Ministry), managing a Saturday service or writing deep and profound theological dissertations.

As a full-time software developer/manager, he can be found in the eternal quest for operational efficiency. As a person in pursuit of his PhD in economics at the University of Utah, he can be found hovering over complex algorithims.

On the weekends when the Lord blesses him with five minutes of downtime, Paul, like most Americans, can be found listening to outlaw country music or watching the Green Bay Packers. He hopes to get more sleep in 2007 and that a cure is found for his addiction to "The Office" and "Everybody Loves Raymond".

After studying Ancient Languages and Humanities at North Central University, Paul and his wife, Cami, forged their way westward and were part of the team that started Capital. Paul and Cami have two children, Rachel and Evan.

Kelly

kelly johnson: graphic design, youth ministries

Kelly is responsible for the visual and creative communication for Capital - if you can see it, he had something to do with it. What makes this so extraordinary is the fact that he is colorblind. Seriously!

Kelly also co-manages Capital's Youth Ministry, The Edge. Along with delivering the occasional Sunday youth message, he successfully keeps things as rowdy as possible from week to week.

In his spare time he tries not to irritate his wife Shelli by reorganizing and designing new ways to stock their pots and pans, can be found outside hanging off the side of a rock or inside watching a good movie. He shares Troy's love of good sweet tea, but is only sometimes allowed to actually share Troy's sweet tea.

His goal for 2008 is concise: to become more disciplined in everything he determines to do.

Wendy

wendy charves: financial administrator

As Financial Administrator, Wendy is responsible for Capital's finances. As the person voted Most Unlikley to Say No, she can normally be found spending as much time volunteering as she spends crunching numbers.

Wendy has moved across the country twice in the past few years and is happy to have her feet planted firmly on Salt Lake ground. She is a proud Food Network junkie who loves cheeseburgers and sweets. She is as passionate about order and cleanliness as she is about her dislike of drivers that tailgate.

Wendy earned her degree from the University of New Hampshire where she studied Business Administration and Accounting. Wendy and her husband Kevin have one son, Zach, and one demanding dog, Bailey.

mandy glettler: administrative assistant

Mandy, born and raised in Saskatchewan, Canada, and a fan of fresh Ukranian sausage, brings some international flavor to Capital.

She serves as Capital's Administrative Assistant - supporting the Pastoral Team, the staff office and the Capital Kids Ministry.

Although she fully intended to enjoy a life at sea as a marine biologist, she has instead spent years on solid ground perfecting her clarinet performance in which she is currently earning her Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Utah.

Mandy looks forward to the moment that she feels wide awake and finds herself swinging in a hammock listening to the music of the ocean - whose waves never quite seem out of tune.
