swaziland

In 2007, Capital Church partnered with Children's HopeChest and became the official sponsor of the Mhkombokati Care Point in Swaziland, Africa. The situation in Swaziland is dire. 12.6% of the total population are considered to be orphans. The main cause for such a high number of orphans is the HIV/AIDS crisis, which is quickly wiping out an entire generation.

The AIDS rate in Swaziland is the highest in the world where 44.6% of the population is infected and where life expectancy is currently only 28 years of age. The Mhkombokati Care Point serves approximately 120 children, most of whom are orphans and specifically rely on the Care Point for food.

Our partnership and support of Mhkombokati includes the following:

SPONSORSHIP OF CHILDREN
The purpose of this sponsorship ministry is to give orphans an opportunity to know God, experience the blessing of family and acquire the skills necessary for an independent life. Members of Capital Church sponsor over 80 children at the Care Point, committing to offering financial support, praying for them consistently and writing to them (at minimum) quarterly.

BUILDING PROJECTS
Through the generosity of members at Capital, funds were also raised to offer resources for various building projects and structures to provide safe and clean food and water preparation. A new kitchen, classroom, fence and longdrop have been built.

TEAM SWAZILAND: MISSIONS TRIPS
A mission team from Capital has journeyed to Mkhombokati in 2008, 2009 and 2010. The teams have brought literally tons of pounds of educational, medical and hygiene-related products, hosted 'bible schools' and spent time simply being the hands and feet of Jesus in any way they could and offered the simple gifts of hope, comfort and love. Over the years, wonderful relationships between returning missions members and children have been built. A fourth trip is planned for February 2012.

missionaries & organizations:

From the day we received our first financial contribution, we made a commitment to tithe (10%) of our undesignated donations to ministries outside our church community. Beyond our partnership with the Children's HopeChest, each month Capital supports various organizations and missionaries who show the love of Jesus throughout the United States and around the world.
