Getting God’s Ear

People who do God’s will have God’s ear.
Wisdom is the ability to navigate life well. We long to find the right response, the right words, the right approach as we face suffering or success, and as we manage relationships. The New Testament Epistle of James offers us the opportunity to pluck the practical wisdom of a disciple of Jesus and challenges us to make the choice to apply it to our lives everyday. Join us as we examine the tried-and-true wisdom of James—and discover how living out a wise faith can impact all aspects of our lives.

Homework

James says people who do God’s will have God’s ear. There’s something potent about the prayers of people who do God’s will, who trust God, and are devoted to Him. “The prayer of a person living right with God is something powerful to be reckoned with.” (James 5:16 MSG) Are your prayers something to be reckoned with? If you think no, don’t be discouraged. God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things. This week, you have three assignments:
1. “Get your junk together” in Jesus. Take a careful look at your life – is there any area not turned toward God?
2. Pray – intentionally and specifically bring the things that are bothering you to God.
3. Find someone to pray for you – and pray for them, too.
