The Unwanted Savior

He’s not the savior you want, he’s the savior you need.
Have you ever prayed for something that seemed perfectly reasonable only to never see that particular hope come to life? You prayed your heart out and for whatever reason, God chose not to grant your request.
When God’s people were praying to be freed from the Romans, they were likely expecting him to show up with an army, not a lamb. The people of Israel wanted God to take away the evil-doers. Instead, God set in motion a plan to take away evil itself. When Jesus met the cross, it devastated all those who followed him. This wasn’t what they prayed for and they never could have guessed what would come from it. Even if you trust and believe in God deep into the core of your being, it can still hurt when things don’t go the way we hoped. God isn’t always the God we pray for, but even when he’s not the savior we want, he’s the savior we need.
