Direct your thoughts before they direct you.
Are the bad parts of our world influencing you? Do ever feel like there’s a carousel of negative thoughts running through your mind, telling you you’re not good enough, you’re not smart enough, God doesn’t love you and there’s no hope because you’ll never change?
Some of us have trouble focusing on the lovely. In fact, we have a habit of dwelling on the unlovely. Are you more prone to think about the good qualities in your spouse or the bad? What about everyone else around you?
Do you wish there was a spiritual switch you could flip that would transform your mind from haughty to holy?
Well, we may not have a switch but what if there was another way to train your mind? What if instead our minds were filled with some of the greatest truths of scripture? What if when fear hit you, your mind immediately assured you, The Lord is with you? What if when you questioned your worth and value, instead of hearing you’re not enough, your mind reminded you, you are God’s work of art, His masterpiece?
If you haven’t made a habit of memorizing God’s word, let this be the year you do. Each week at Capital we take bite-sized morsel of God’s truth and translate them into graphics you could carry with you everywhere on that device in your hand or pocket. Carry these words with you. Commit them to memory. Meditate their meaning and watch God transform your mind and life. Make this the year you direct your thoughts before they direct you.
