“Favoritism”

SPEAKER: Rob Harter

We all carry biases and prejudices with us wherever we go. We have differing likes and dislikes. With so many differences, how do we love others? Including those who are different than us… Rich vs. poor, local vs. immigrant, men vs. women, black vs. white. James tells us we must not play favorites and we must not judge others – for mercy triumphs over judgement. Ultimately, there is no person you will ever see that does not matter to God. There is no person in your life that Christ did not die for. That is what should shape your view of their worth. Just as our lives are shaped by how we view God, to love as God loves, we have to see as God sees.

Primary text: James 2:1-13
Other texts in this message: 1 Corinthians 13:13, 1 John 4:7-21
