What are we told during every preflight safety brief? Should there be a change in cabin pressure, masks will fall from the compartment above you. But we’re given one crucial instruction that, if we fail to do it will keep us from doing anything else: Secure your mask first, before assisting those around you. If we bypass step one, we won’t be able to do any of the steps that follow.
