I only love God as much as the person I love the least.
Religion often hinders compassion. But as we look at the parable of the Good Samaritan, it teaches us to show compassion to those in need. Ask yourself, who are the hardest people for you to love? You may not struggle with prejudice in race or gender, but how do you interact with someone who hurt you? How do you treat the person who made you look bad, or poked at your insecurities, or disappointed you? Do you love them or snub them? The question is not, “who is my neighbor”. The question is; how can I love God and love others more? The truth is, I only love God as much as I love the person I love the least.
