Primary text: Proverbs 4:13

Never stop learning, because life never stops teaching.

Wise people never stop learning, because they know life will never stop teaching. Wise people know they don’t have everything figured out, so they cherish the gift of feedback, surrounding themselves with people who can give them both courage and correction. Are you wise and willingly teachable, open to the truth-tellers in your life? Or are you a fool who will minimize, rationalize and justify, adjusting the truth rather than adjusting to the truth you need to hear? Ask someone who knows you. And let God use the people around you to shape you into a person of character and competence.

Homework

No matter your age, status, education or experience, find the courage to never stop learning! Start by checking out our homework this week. First, read “Thanks for the Feedback” by Sheila Heen who says “If you don’t know what you need to work on, do you know who does? EVERYONE ELSE. They’re just afraid to tell you!” Next, find some safe people and regularly give them permission to speak into your life. Ask them, “What’s one thing you see me doing—or failing to do—that you think I should change?” Finally, dig into our verse of the week: Proverbs 4:13, “Hold on to instruction, do not let it go; guard it well, for it is your life.”
