"The Cave You Fear To Enter Holds The Treasure You Seek." -Joseph Campbell

The early stages of buying a house are exciting. The first time you step through the doorway of “the one,” joyful thoughts of movie nights in the den, friends gathered around the dining room table, and intimate conversations in the bedroom swim through your head and heart. A lifetime unfolds in a matter of seconds.

Then comes the part where you get the house inspected. And the report that comes back looks more like a novel than a short story. You take a deep breath and remind yourself: this is all just part of the process.

You know the only way to understand the true condition of the house and the work that needs to be done to make it a home is to go into every dark and scary crack and crevice.

This week, we’re exploring a Psalm that not only invites us to do the hard, sometimes scary work of searching our souls – it invites us to invite God himself to lead the search.

Other texts in this message: Psalm 139:1-24, 1 Samuel 16:7, Luke 16:14-15, Romans 8:35, Luke 23:34, Jeremiah 17:9-10
