Talking It Out
La Familia Madrigal in the movie Encanto is a delightful family overflowing with gladness & joy—at least on the surface. It’s quickly apparent that many of their dynamics are all about optics. They seem to be dishonest with themselves for fear of looking weak, being judged, or being rejected. Perhaps this is a relatable experience for you and your family… If you’re struggling to identify the contents of the depths of your soul, then pray Psalm 139:23-24 and ask God to shine his unconditional love on your shortcomings, sin, and shame. Doing so can counteract your people-pleasing narratives, heal your brokenness, and transform your character.

We’re currently in our God and the Movies series where we’re considering how God can speak into our lives through some of our favorite movies.
During this series, we’ll broadcast our service live here on our Capital Church app or at capitalchurch.com/watch but not YouTube.
Our licensing allows us to broadcast the movie series live, but we are not able to leave the messages online to be viewed later. You can join us at either 9:15am or 11am (MST) each Sunday.
So, grab your popcorn, open your heart, and let’s get ready to hear what God wants to say through some of this year’s best movies.
