In 2007, Capital entered into a unique community-to-community partnership and became the sponsor of the Mkhombokati CarePoint in eSwatini (formerly Swaziland), Africa. The focus of this ministry is building relationship and trust through which we have been privileged to watch the children grow and our mutual love grow for God and for each other.
Eswatini has the highest rate of HIV/AIDS in the world, wiping out an entire generation of adults. In a population of about a million people, there are over 150,000 orphans seeking food, refuge, and love. Our partnership, through Children’s HopeChest and supported on the ground by Adventures in Missions, supports the 200 children at Mkhomobkati every day to ensure that their medical, physical, educational, emotional, and spiritual needs are met. Generous individuals at Capital finance this through a child sponsorship program. It is our ultimate goal to see Mkhombokati grow to become self-sustaining, enhancing the lives of both the children and the community.
Capital sends Mission Teams to Mkhombokati each year and if you are interested in going you can start by filling out the following application here and returning it to the church office. The teams bring thousands of pounds of supplies, complete projects, teach about God’s word and heart, and spend time simply being the hands and feet of Jesus in any way they can, offering the simple gifts of hope, comfort, and love.
Through the generosity of the Capital community, Mkhombokati now has a kitchen, classroom, fence, toilet, water well, multipurpose building, soccer field, basketball pad, greenhouse and playground. Our community development focus is now on education, providing opportunity, access and ability to all children of all ages at Mkhombokati. In 2018, we launched an accredited preschool program for our youngest children and a mobile computer training program for the older children to be regularly taught important skills that we hope will position them for future access to further education or to the job market. After years of hosting medical clinics, we have transitioned to medical education, hosting a two-day medical conference in 2018 for over 80 young adults in leadership, providing important health-care education to address some of the root issues that contribute to the cycle of poverty.

Child Sponsorship
Help provide hope and encouragement for a child and their family
$45 each month provides a child with nutritious food, clean water, and discipleship. Additionally, their family will be invited to participate in programs that strengthen the family unit, leading toward community growth and lasting transformation.
Capital Church works with Adventures in Missions (AIM) to help develop a 1:1 sponsorship program where we as a church directly sponsor every child at our carepoint. At Capital we have committed to a 100% sponsorship goal, which means every child at Mkhombokati is sponsored by someone in our Capital community and we are committed to ensure that no child goes un-sponsored. Please consider being part of this incredible opportunity to connect with a child and their family today.

Common Questions
Children are the future leaders of their country, they are best situated in stable families.
Our vision is Transformed people transforming communities through discipleship, asset-based community development, and a holistic approach toward addressing the complex issues of poverty. We believe that God has given each nation everything it needs to overcome the unique challenges it faces. Jesus enables us to partner with Him in bringing His kingdom to earth, restoring families, communities and nations.
Why child sponsorship and family support matters.
The world shouldn’t need child sponsorship for children to have a chance at a safe, self-sustainable life. The reality is that the systematic way life operates is often working against resiliency and family development in many of the countries we serve. It’s not always intentional shifts that create diverging problems. As countries modernize, subsistence farming is looked down upon in favor of big city lifestyle. An abundance of cheap imported goods destroys cottage industry work in tailoring clothing, furniture manufacturing, maintenance and more. People become increasingly dependent on outsourced goods that steadily increase in cost without adequate increases in wage or availability for work. In the communities we serve, this cycle is made dramatically worse by long term effects of poverty, which often creates a broken view of self. Some communities also have little to no access to technology, skills training, or other resources. In Eswatini, these issues are multiplied by the HIV/AIDs crisis that decimated the adult population leaving a nationwide vacuum of leadership and parental figures.
Without a reason to hope, many disadvantaged families don’t see a way they can change the situation so they give up or give in. We believe that the countries we serve have been given everything they need to one day become self sufficient. As followers of Christ, we believe that He is able to do abundantly more than we can ask or imagine. Jesus is capable of transforming communities, mindsets, attitudes, and outcomes. We fix our eyes only on the long-term transformation of communities to reflect Christ. We focus on training to build a holy movement, not only for beneficiaries to become successful. Our programs sow deep to address some of these complex issues surrounding poverty and to target its root causes in holistic ways. These problems are getting bigger, we need your help to affect change.
Our programs are about so much more than providing food and letters to children.
$45 per month meets immediate tangible needs by providing nutritious food and clean water. It also sustains long-term transformation by providing discipleship and opportunities to engage in programming to strengthen families as a whole that will ripple into the community for generations to come!
Sponsoring a child has the potential to transform and strengthen a family. The family will have the opportunity to be part of our programs, as we walk alongside them on the path helping them move out from being a “disadvantaged benefactor” to an empowered contributor who helps bring their dreams for the community to life.
