Rest 5 DESKTOP
Resolve to recover rest for your weary soul.

What if you resolved to do 2017 differently than 2016? What if you learned to carry life’s burden’s in a new way? What if you exchanged anxiety for peace, weariness for strength, and exhaustion for rest? We find out how to do this in the Gospel of Matthew where Jesus offers himself, the top resolution of all time. The Creator of the universe says to us “come to me and you will recover your life.” This year, resolve to recover rest for your weary soul.

Homework

Read the Gospels: (Matthew, Mark, Luke, & John) not all today, but one chapter at a time. Take note of how Jesus lived and worked – what was HIS pattern for handling the burdens and responsibility life brings?

Phone a Friend: Take someone to coffee this week and ask him or her how they have learned to follow Christ.

Weigh Your Baggage: Reflect on a specific burden you are carrying right now, ask Jesus how HE wants to handle it and what he is expecting from you? And then take time to listen and wait on his instructions.

Book Recommendation: If you’re looking for sensible ways to be with Jesus, you may want to pick up Adele Calhoon’s “Spiritual Disciplines Handbook”. This book offers a thorough overview of the most common spiritual disciplines.
