When things aren't good, God is good and he brings good out of all things.
God is good, all the time. All the time, God is good. This true statement may strike you as a cliché – Especially if you are in a situation that feels hopeless or seems helpless. James pleads with his reader “don’t be deceived by your circumstances or suffering…” when things aren’t good, God is good, and he brings good out of all things. He is the good good Father. A good father cares for his children, provides for his children, guides them with wisdom, and disciplines with love. Maybe you aren’t ready to find the good, but take the opportunity to concentrate on finding God.
Our God is so loving and so large that he can take ALL things – your suffering, your sin, someone else’s sin, he can take the good AND the bad and make something good. I can’t tell you what “good” looks like, or when “good” will happen, but if you trust God with your disappointment or your dashed dreams he will bring good from them. Even when things aren’t good, God is good, and he brings good out of all things.
