“Pursuing Peace”

SPEAKER: Troy Champ

In Matthew 5:9 Jesus says, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” A peacemaker is not a person who never speaks up or caves when confronted or challenged. A peacemaker is someone who creates peace when they can’t see it, seeks peace where they can’t find it, and forges peace out of the broken pieces of relationships. It is the person who stands between two friends to empathize and listen. Blessed are those who ferociously pursue peace.

Pray for a peacemaker. Maybe you have a broken relationship and long for peace, but you feel like you’ve exhausted all your options. Take some time this week to pray for a true companion who might be able to help bring reconciliation.

Be a peacemaker. Peacemakers are not easily offended, they aren’t defensive, and they know how to hold their tongue. They are good listeners and can empathize even when they don’t agree.

Be someone’s peacemaker. Maybe you will be able to bring two people together by being a true companion.

Equip yourself for peacemaking. Learn to resolve conflict with grace and peace.
