The value of a life is always measured by how much of it is given away.

Peter Parker in Spider Man: No Way Home shows us that being a hero looks a lot like being a disciple. In Luke 9, Jesus declares: Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me (v 23). In order to follow Jesus, you need to reject you—and that’s not going to be easy. The cost of dying to yourself is high; it’s full of risk, disappointment, and rejection. But the reward is far greater—Jesus longs for you to experience the joy of an others-focused life, free from selfish pursuit and bent on infusing love into the lives of those around you. As Andy Stanley has said, “the value of a life is always measured by how much of it is given away.”
