“Hope for a New Year”

We all face storms in life, whether financial, personal, health-related, or in relationships. We can’t control the types of storms we face, the duration, or when they occur, but we can control our response. What would it look like to respond with hope in God this year? Real, raw, honest hope. Not based on any circumstance, but based on God. Hope is found when we bring our uncertain future to an unchanging God.

“The True Meaning of Christmas”

What is so shocking about Christ’s coming is that God didn’t wait for us to get our junk together before he came to be with us. He came to be with us because we couldn’t get our junk together. The presence of shepherds at the manger scene reminds us that God doesn’t play favorites. He cares deeply for people who are rejected and excluded. Maybe your life is out of control, your anger is out of control, your kids are out of control, maybe you don’t like yourself. But will you dare to trust a God who cares, a God who’s been there? Christ came not for people who deserve him but for people who...

“Real Love Changes Everything”

Real love is defined this way: God is love. God has chosen to shower His love upon us. We have value, not because we are lovable, but because we are loved. Scripture tells us that God has already chosen to love us. He sent his Son first, to prove how much he loved us. When you grasp this real love, it changes everything. May the love of God shape your soul in this season, may the love of God transform your relationships through the holidays. As it brings joy, as it brings peace, as it brings patience, and kindness, and gentleness while you celebrate Christ’s coming. Copyright...

“Faithful not Predictable”

Luke 2:19 tells us that Mary treasured up all the things that have happened to her and pondered them in her heart. When we consider the events leading up to the birth of Jesus, we see four experiences which Mary pondered and prized: injustice, inconvenience, insufficiency, and incompatibility. We face these same events in our life and it’s important we recognize that God is faithful, not predictable. Especially during seasons in which God isn’t doing what we think he should be doing! Is there an injustice in your life you think God should correct? Is there a problem you face you think God...

“Still God’s Child”

When asked who will be the greatest in the kingdom of heaven, Jesus uses a little child to remind the disciples that the way up to greatness is actually the way down. It’s not from childish behavior, but in childlike faith where we find the reverence, humility and dependence on God that redefines greatness. No matter our smarts or success in athletics, academics, finances, life experiences or years on this earth, we can never overachieve enough to find ourselves out of being under the mighty hand of God. The good news, the great joy this Christmas, is that God sent His child so that we can...
